For most manufacturing industries, improving asset utilisation is directly linked to improved profitability. So you would think that operational leaders would know how to optimise their asset utilisation, to enhance productivity, margins and service levels. Our conclusion, this is partially true. They certainly all have a clear opinion on how asset utilisation could be improved, but the effectiveness of their approach could be challenged. When asked to supply data-driven success rates, silence prevailed.
