Improving Supply Chain set up and costs

Challenge

A global producer of advanced engineering plastics was unhappy with its European supply chain setup, performance and organisational capabilities. The required service levels for MTS/MTO products were not being met, while operating costs in the supply chain and inventory levels were considered to be too high.

The supply chain performance was preventing the company from hitting its ambitious internal growth targets.

R&G was tasked with the challenge of improving the European supply chain setup and enabling the company to achieve significant improvements in service levels, cost and inventory.

Our approach

To do this, we introduced the data-driven Stable SCMTM methodology, which uses data on a transactional level to identify drivers of variances in the relevant supply chain metrics.

Armed with this knowledge, we established a connection between data, leadership, training and coaching and used it to bring about organisational changes. Because our data-driven methodology made it possible to tackle the real issues at the heart of the problems, we achieved significant and sustainable improvements in service reliability together with reduced operating costs and inventory levels. All of which led to an improved Working Capital position.

Impact & Results

  • Improved service reliability
  • Reduced operating costs and inventory levels
  • Improved Working Capital position

The company now occupies stronger positions in its global target markets.
